The Best Tasting Carrots
For the past several years, I have hosted an organic farm pick up site at my home. Known as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), it’s a great way to get the freshest, tastiest, local, organic produce. The way a CSA works is that you purchase a “share”, and receive a box of seasonal produce each week during the season. Angelic Organics is a farm in north-central Illinois that has had a CSA program since 1993, and serves over 1,200 shareholders in the greater Chicago area. Shares are available for the 2013 summer and fall seasons. Click here for more information or contact me with questions.
What to do with all those used Gift Cards
As the holidays approach, plastic gift cards are a popular gift item. According to Earthworks, “there are 3 billion new gift cards placed in circulation every year, with the potential to add 75-100 million pounds of PVC material to the waste stream.” You can recycle these cards after you use them by sending them to Earthworks c/o Halprin Industries, 25840 Miles Road, Bedford, OH 44146.
